Jean Nouvel, 1994

Less is lightness and mystery, “l’essence, l’archétype de la table”, wrote Jean Nouvel. It is a steel table with a rigid, ultra-slim top, which is achieved by repeatedly folding the sheet metal, and with L-shaped legs, 45-mm wings and an aerodynamic profile. Conceived and created for the Fondation Cartier in Paris, it is an icon of contemporary design.

Jean Nouvel

Jean Nouvel was born in 1945 in Fumel, France. His approach to design comes from a need to create objects for his own architectures. This approach created the Less table which was produced by Molteni&C. for the headquarters of the Cartier Foundation. The Ateliers Jean Nouvel design activities reflect a desire to develop an "architectural design."
